Aniimo is live today on PC (Steam / Epic / Microsoft Store), PS5, and Xbox Series. Free-to-play. Mobile (iOS/Android) follows September 23. Dev is Pawprint Studio, publish is Kingsglory / FunPlus.
World is the continent of Idyll. You play a Pathfinder.
What it is
Open-world creature collector with real-time combat, not turn-based gym fights. Pitch everyone uses: Pokémon Legends traversal + Genshin-style live-service map.
Official count at launch is 200+ Aniimo across biomes (sandy, floral, ice, urban, sky city).
Starters that keep coming up: Helion and Lunara. Catch with Aniipods. Cross-play is on. It’s also on Game Pass.
Twine — the actual hook
You don’t just throw a creature. You merge with it. That’s Twine.
- PC: C
- Xbox / PS5: RT / R2
- Press again to Untwine
Once Twined you are the Aniimo: fly, swim, climb, skate ice, burn thorns, talk to same-species NPCs, solve traversal puzzles.
Combat is you piloting the kit, not barking orders from off-screen. Roles on a field team: DPS, Break, Support, Heal, Regen.
Three-creature loadouts matter as much for mobility coverage as damage.
Launch-day reception
Not a critic blowout. Warm world, messy menus.
- Metacritic around 79 “generally favorable”
- DualShockers 85
- CGMagazine 7
- TMI 7/10
- Sportskeeda 7/10
- Steam user reviews Mixed (~58%) on day one
Praise: creature designs, Idyll’s look, Twine as exploration. Cuts: cluttered UI, shallow spammy combat, live-service resource grind, forgettable story.
PC crashes are already a support thread — DX11 and driver updates are the usual fix.
Monetization
Base game is free.
Optional console packs: Advanced $9.99, Collector $19.99 (Prismana egg, battle-pass handbook, PS exclusive Fluffy Friend accessory).
Premium currency is Glimmer. Catching itself is not a gacha banner — you find them in the world.
Launch codes circulating:
- Aniimo2026 — 20 Glimmer
- ANIIMOGIFT — Glimmer + credits + growth items + Aniipod Pro
Redeem: Settings → Account → Gift Code. Mail unlocks after the early “Chasing The Clouds” beat.
Who it’s for
People who want a creature sandbox on PS5/Xbox/PC without waiting on Nintendo’s $80 monster games.
Not a replacement for Fortune’s Weave or Trails 2nd Chapter — different lane, different depth.
If Twine clicks, the map carries it. If the menus and stamina loops don’t, it plays like every other pretty F2P collector.
Aniimo is live. Free. PC, PS5, Xbox. Mobile next week.
