Apple’s next move: treat your iPhone more like a car lease than something you actually own.
Apple is partnering with Klarna to launch Apple Upgrade — a new leasing program in the U.S. covering eligible iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches.
It launched July 28, 2026 and is available now through the Apple Store online, the Apple Store app, and Apple retail locations.
You pick the term: 12, 24, or 36 months. Monthly payments start at:
- $11.99 for iPads and Apple Watches
- $17.99 for iPhones
- $24.99 for Macs
Trade in your current device to lower the payment, then at the end of the lease you can upgrade to the newest model, buy the device outright, or just return it.
This is the clearest signal yet that the big players are pushing hard toward recurring payments and constant upgrades instead of traditional ownership.
