Control Resonant — reviews just went live today.
Launch is Thursday, Sept 24.
That’s Remedy’s pitch: a cosmic force is twisting reality. You play Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, seven years after Control.
The Hiss and the Mold have left the Oldest House and eaten Manhattan. Gravity, streets, buildings — all wrong. Dylan’s job is to stop it and find Jesse, now FBC Director.
Sean Durrie is Dylan.
Partner/handler is FBC agent Zoe. Pope and Langston are back.
The Board still talks like a hostile HR department.
How it plays
Not a gun game anymore. Melee action RPG.
Weapon is the Aberrant — a shapeshifting thing Jesse/The Board jammed into his chest.
Hammer, dual blades, whip, club. Primary + secondary + finisher.
Powers off bosses called Resonants (fire coating, spectral shooter, wall-becomes-floor gravity, magnet-grapple). Open, interconnected warped NYC, not another Oldest House maze.
Remedy says 30+ hours; some reviews are already at ~35. $59–60.
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam + Epic).
Xbox Play Anywhere. Mac later in 2026. Digital Deluxe: 48-hour early access on PS5 digital, artbook, OST, outfit, starter bundle.
Reviews today
Embargo lifted this morning. Split is “world is genius / melee is the question.”
- NYT — boss fights as space-bending spectacles; Dylan awkward until he’s leaping buildings. Out Thursday.
- Tom’s Guide — surpassed expectations; “finest Remedy game yet”; melee “superb.”
- Game Informer (in progress) — positive; Dylan/Zoe banter works.
- PC Gamer — hellscapes magnificent, too many hours of middling combat.
- Kotaku — 35 hours; combat tense, some mindless traversal, dialogue hit-or-miss.
Blacksmiths also joked the massive hammer is “too much hammer.”
