Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Duo Pre-Orders Launch This Friday — The Wait Is Almost Over
CUPERTINO, Calif. — After years of rumors, delays, and endless speculation, Apple’s long-awaited first foldable iPhone is finally here.
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo open this Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with the device hitting stores and shipping the following Friday, October 23.
Announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup on September 9, the Duo is Apple’s most radical iPhone redesign in years.
Closed, it’s a pocketable 5.4-inch phone. Open it, and it unfolds into a stunning 7.6-inch inner display — the largest screen ever on an iPhone and 50% bigger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Both displays share the same aspect ratio so content flows seamlessly between them, and both feature ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On, and a blazing 3,000-nit peak outdoor brightness.
The inner screen even gets a special nano-texture finish to cut glare and soften the crease.
When open, the Duo is Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever at just 5.2 mm, built with polished grade 5 titanium and a precision hinge engineered for a smooth, satisfying feel.
It weighs 254 grams and measures 11.3 mm thick when closed. Available in Star White and Night Sky, it’s also IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, the A20 Pro chip (with vapor-chamber cooling) powers pro-level performance and advanced AI features, while a dual-battery system delivers up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display or 31 hours on the larger inner screen.
The dual 48MP Fusion camera system (Main + Ultra Wide) unlocks new fold-specific tricks like Smart Take and Duo Preview, plus an under-display FaceTime camera on the inside and a 12MP Center Stage camera on the outside.
Touch ID replaces Face ID in the side button, and iOS has been reimagined for multitasking, side-by-side apps, and hands-free poses.
Pricing starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model (with options up to 2TB), or $83.29 per month for 24 months.
Apple is positioning it as two devices in one — a compact everyday phone that transforms into a mini tablet for media, gaming, and productivity.
Pre-orders begin Friday morning.
Availability starts October 23 in more than 70 countries, with more markets following on October 30.
Cases and accessories are already listed. After years of waiting, Apple’s foldable era officially begins this week.
