GTA 6 pre-order numbers (Sensor Tower estimates, as of mid-to-late October 2026)
These figures come from Sensor Tower’s tracking of digital pre-orders.
They are third-party estimates (not official Rockstar/Take-Two numbers) and generally cover digital sales.
Physical pre-orders are typically not included in the same way, and some reports note slight variations depending on the exact cutoff date.
Current estimates
- Units: Roughly 6.08–6.45 million digital pre-orders.
- Revenue: About $594–630 million.
- Platform split: Approximately 74% PlayStation 5 (around 4.5–4.8 million units) and 26% Xbox Series (around 1.57–1.66 million units). This lines up with the PS5’s stronger install base.
Earlier tracking (around mid-October) had lower figures; the numbers have continued climbing.
Reports also note that a large share of early pre-orders have been for the higher-priced Ultimate Edition ($99.99) rather than the Standard Edition ($79.99).
One earlier Sensor Tower snapshot put the Ultimate share very high (around 89% in August data), which is unusually elevated and expected to normalize closer to launch as more casual buyers come in.
How this compares to other big games
Sensor Tower compared GTA 6’s pre-order trajectory to major AAA releases from the past several years (including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022), Diablo IV, Hogwarts Legacy, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2).
GTA 6 is pacing ~148% ahead of Modern Warfare II at a comparable point before launch. MW2 had been one of the strongest recent digital pre-order performers. The gap versus other titles is even larger.
What analysts expect next
- The bulk of pre-orders usually arrives in the final week or so before launch as hype peaks. Sensor Tower’s Karl Kontus has suggested total pre-orders could reach the ~25 million range by release in some scenarios (which would translate to roughly $2 billion in pre-order revenue alone). That would be unprecedented.
- Broader first-year or launch-week expectations from various analysts have ranged widely (often 30–50+ million units in year one, with some higher). Newzoo has previously floated launch-week revenue estimates in the multi-billion range (one figure cited around $5.2 billion in certain scenarios).
- Pre-load is expected to start around November 12, a week before the November 19 console launch, which typically drives another spike.
Pricing and editions (context)
- Standard: $79.99
- Ultimate: $99.99
- There’s also a higher-end collector’s set (reported around $399.99) that includes extras but is separate.
PC release
Console launch is locked for November 19, 2026 (PS5 and Xbox Series).
PC is not day-and-date. Recent reports (including from GamesBeat citing industry sources) have pointed to a Q1 2027 PC window, which would be a relatively short gap by Rockstar standards (GTA V was closer to 19 months).
Other estimates based on historical patterns have suggested later (into 2027 or even 2028).
Rockstar has not officially confirmed a PC date.
Bottom line: These are already massive numbers for a game still a month out—well ahead of recent AAA benchmarks—and the final pre-order total plus launch week are widely expected to set new industry records.
All figures remain estimates until official data appears after launch.
