Why the text is different
Script is the canon-corrected version going into Halo: The Master Chief Omnibus the same day — not the 2001 first printing.
Dates, ship tonnage, first-contact lines, and a few Chi Ceti boarding descriptions got cleaned so it matches current lore. Halopedia editors even helped the omnibus pass.
