Popular Mechanics is selling its holiday tech guide with a LEGO Game Boy up front and a 39-item gear list behind the click.
The ad shows hands holding the white brick-built handheld, pink A and B buttons and the classic D-pad in frame, under the line “We Found Tech Gifts That Will Blow Gearheads Away.”
The caption matches it: “The Coolest Tech Gifts of the Year Will Blow Gearheads Away.”
The teaser is the same pitch, cut short: “Give the gift of innovation…”
The link goes to “The 39 Best Tech Gifts of the Year,” updated October 5, 2026.
Editors time it to Prime Big Deal Days and early pre-Black Friday sales, and note that higher tech prices in 2026 make these gifts worth getting right.

The device in the photo is not a working console.
It is LEGO set 72046, the Super Mario Game Boy: 421 pieces, 1:1 scale of the 1989 original, age 18+, about $60.
It has a cartridge slot, two buildable Game Paks (Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening), and swappable lenticular screens.
Popular Mechanics has called it an editor favorite and previously filed it under “For Nostalgic Gamers.”
