Resident Evil Requiem (Resident Evil 9) is Capcom’s ninth mainline survival horror game, launching February 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam/Epic), and Nintendo Switch 2.
Set ~30 years after the nuke that destroyed Raccoon City in Resident Evil 3, you play FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft — daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak. She’s investigating bizarre deaths at the Wrenwood Hotel, the same place her mother was murdered eight years prior.
Gameplay brings back classic survival horror:
- Scavenge ammo and herbs
- Solve tense puzzles
- Fight (or avoid) zombies
- Evade a relentless stalker (think Mr. X, but deadlier)
First-time feature: Switch on the fly between first-person (for immersion) and third-person (for combat control).
Originally pitched as an open-world multiplayer game, it was reworked into single-player after fan feedback. Powered by the RE Engine, it features hyper-detailed graphics — sweat, facial expressions, and ruined city decay.
Leon S. Kennedy rumors suggest he’s playable in flashback sections (set in 2020), possibly involving vehicle chases — unconfirmed.
Pre-order bonuses include:
- Costumes (Apocalypse outfit, Grace variants)
- Weapons
- Deluxe Edition: 5 extra outfits (including a Lady Dimitrescu-inspired one), steelbook
- Switch 2 exclusives: Themed Pro Controller, Grace amiibo (summer 2026), and a “Generation Pack” bundling RE7, Village, and Requiem
- Epic pre-order: Fortnite Grace skin
In a nutshell: A rookie agent returns to the ashes of Raccoon City, switching perspectives to survive zombies, puzzles, and a hunter — pure Resident Evil roots, coming Feb 2026.
