Resident Evil Requiem Reveal – January 15, 2026 Showcase Recap
Capcom just dropped the big Resident Evil Showcase today — a 12-minute deep dive packed with new gameplay and details for Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry.
Key Highlights:
- Release Date & Platforms
February 27, 2026
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam & Epic), Nintendo Switch 2
(No PS4 version, and no demo announced)
- Dual Protagonists & Playstyles
- Grace Ashcroft: Classic survival horror — limited resources, stealth/combat choices, her signature "Requiem" magnum
- Leon S. Kennedy: Action-oriented — melee finishers, hatchet (sharpenable), pick up/use enemy weapons, parry system
Campaign switches between them in story segments; you can toggle between first- and third-person views at any time
- New Mechanics
- Extract infected blood from zombies to craft items (red bullets, anti-reanimation syringes)
- Zombies keep "personality traits" from their previous lives (custodian mopping, someone pressing elevator buttons, some even speak to Grace)
- Enhanced gunplay: limb targeting, contextual melee, brutal finishers
- Difficulty Options
- Casual: Auto-saves, aim assist, story-focused
- Standard (Modern): Auto-saves, balanced tension
- Standard (Classic): Ink ribbons at typewriters (Grace only), old-school scarcity
- Story Teases
Leon carries a dark "Elpis" secret, connected to Grace's mother Alyssa's murder and a zombie bite on Leon's arm — hinting at new virus lore
- Tech & Visuals
DLSS 4 support on PC, path-traced lighting, brief tease of a new enemy at the end of the trailer
- Editions & Extras
Deluxe Edition includes bonus weapon skins and an "Apocalypse" outfit for Grace
Various collabs: limited-edition watches, Porsche customization, Switch 2 Pro Controller, amiibo, statues, and orchestra concerts
Hype is massive — it feels like a true blend of classic horror and modern action. Pre-orders are live now!
