The Battle Creek, Michigan organization, on X as @Streamcause, was founded by executive director Robbie (Robert) Miller and received federal tax-exempt status in November 2020.
Its stated model is simple: partner with creators, raise money through community streams, then move those funds into grants, coaching, and program support for grassroots groups that lack their own creator programs.
What it actually funds
The core work sits in three programs. Community Level Up covers project costs for local nonprofits.
Streamer Support pays for incentives, upgrades, and event resources so creators, many from marginalized communities, are not expected to bankroll charity streams themselves.
Community Connection takes the mission offline with creator events, including LGBTQ-centered spaces in the gaming industry.
That model drew outside notice in 2025, when Stream for a Cause won the inaugural Community Impact Award at the Gayming Awards for its work supporting LGBTQ gamers.
The clearest recent example is the partnership with the National Children’s Alliance.
Several centers used the money for gas cards and bus tokens so families could reach appointments in rural areas where transportation is the barrier between a child and care.
NCA published the roundup on March 26, 2026.
GuideStar and ProPublica filings put 2024 revenue at about $152,000 and expenses at about $140,000, almost all from contributions.
The organization also runs Pixel Care, a mental-health resource built with the Center for Suicide Awareness for creators and moderators, and an Emergency Relief Fund it tapped in August 2026 for West Coast wildfires and Wisconsin tornadoes.
What is happening now
October is the group’s annual Scream for a Cause push: a month of Halloween charity streams meant to stock programs for 2027.
Sign-ups cover costume contests, pumpkin carving, and creator events.
On October 8, Stream for a Cause said it is partnering with Atari on charity streams this month.
The account is also recruiting for Ignited, an open community play day, and in early September hosted a drag show and community programming at PAX West.
The public site is streamforacause.org
Creators and donors can nominate a local nonprofit for funding through the site’s submission form.
