THE FINALS Season 12: Prime Time launches tomorrow, October 20, 2026. Official timing is roughly 9:00 AM ET / 13:00 UTC / 3:00 PM CEST, with a Twitch launch stream starting around 2:30 PM CEST.
It’s a free update on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
New Light Playstyle: The Infiltrator
Light gets a fourth playstyle built around detection, disguise, and repositioning. It comes with one Specialization and two Gadgets:
- True Sight (Specialization): A rework of the old Thermal Vision. It highlights enemies and deployables in clear team colors, sees through environmental smoke and Smoke Grenades, and reveals cloaked or disguised players. It drains an energy meter while active, so it isn’t free permanent vision.
- Mimic Device (Gadget): Scan any prop in the arena and temporarily disguise yourself as it. Some props keep functional effects when you take damage (e.g., a healing barrel or canister can trigger its effect). Data Reshaper on a disguised player is especially punishing.
- Translocator (Gadget): Mark an object and swap positions with it (within range). Useful for escapes, relocating enemy turrets, delivering explosives, or creative movement.
The kit both enables and counters itself—True Sight directly counters Mimic disguises.
Solo Showdown
A new 12-player solo tournament mode (launching in beta). It runs three rounds randomly selected from eight mini-modes.
Each round is short (~5 minutes), and it’s positioned as a chaotic, individual showcase alternative to the usual team formats.
Destruction & Dynamism Overhaul
This is the biggest change to the destruction system since launch. Previously, building pieces were mostly either fully intact or fully detached and falling.
The update adds a gradual destruction layer in between:
- Pieces can hinge, swing, twist, bend, and stay loosely attached (sagging floors, leaning walls, swinging structures).
- New blast waves from explosions push and deform geometry.
- Dynamic debris piles form playable surfaces.
- Smoke and gas are more reactive: they adapt to changing geometry, don’t affect players through walls as freely, and can be cleared by explosions.
- Footstep audio is fully rebuilt for better spatial awareness.
The goal is more unscripted, match-to-match variation in how arenas collapse and create new paths or cover.
Arena Reworks
Starting with three classic maps: Monaco, Seoul, and Skyway Stadium. Changes include:
- New lighting, materials, and color grading
- Level design adjustments, clearer sightlines, and new traversal routes
- Per-arena sponsor branding, colors, and identity
- Updated destruction assets that work with the new gradual system
More maps are planned for later seasons.
Other Major Additions
- Full HUD and UI rework: Cleaner, more intuitive in-game HUD and social menus.
- Dynamic Commentary (Beta): Scotty (the announcer) will call out player names and react to specific in-game moments in real time.
- New Sponsor Journey: Align with sponsors (including OSPUZE, ISEUL-T, and ALFA ACTA) for exclusive rewards and stronger gameshow presentation. Real-time sponsor handler voiceovers are also part of the package.
- Permanent Light and Heavy health/movement adjustments, plus the usual balance, performance, and anti-cheat work.
Overall, Embark is framing Season 12 as a “new chapter” focused on improving the existing game rather than just stacking new content—stronger gameshow fantasy, more dynamic arenas, and more ways for individual players to stand out.
The Infiltrator and the destruction upgrades are the two biggest mechanical shifts.
