Read it as: 1st Chapter remake was last year’s high-water JRPG remake. This one is that game’s second half, finished.
Story (no late spoilers)
Picks up on 1st Chapter’s cliffhanger. Joshua is gone. Estelle is a senior Bracer and goes looking. Liberl is the board.
Ouroboros stops being background and becomes the fight. Character work is the point — Estelle’s coming-of-age is what reviewers keep calling one of Falcom’s best.
New/returning faces that matter this chapter: Anelace, Kevin, Julia, Mueller, Leonhardt, Weissman, Renne. English VA additions include Cassandra Lee Morris, Ray Chase, Patrick Seitz, Liam O’Brien, Courtney Lin. Dual JP/EN voices.
Gameplay
About 95% the 1st Chapter remake systems — on purpose. Quick battle + command battle, same loop, more crafts/S-Crafts, better party consistency (you actually keep people), expanded fishing, cooking, poker.
Falcom added Brave Rush because this chapter runs a four-person party instead of the Estelle/Joshua duo. Executors get Legion Boost.
Carry 1st Chapter clear data for bonuses and classic SC costumes. Combat animations and S-Breaks are the visible glow-up.
Who it’s for
Play 1st Chapter first. This is part two of one story, not a soft reboot.
Newcomers who started on the remake last year are the exact audience reviewers say Falcom won. the 3rd remake is the next obvious ask; at least one critic bought it the same day they finished this.
Price / extras
MSRP around $59.99. JP Uroboros Box exists. DLC drops in three waves: Sept 17, Sept 24, Oct 1. Steam demo is already up.
The knocks
Penultimate act sags. Some areas look thin next to the new cutscenes.
Voice acting isn’t 100% on every line. Party-swap incentive is still weak.
It is not a systems revolution — it’s a story and presentation finish.
